Coronavirus is creating panic effects around the globe and has now been declared as an epidemic in most of the countries. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), Coronaviruses (CoV) refers to a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. The zoonotic disease can produce a numerous symptoms in both adults and children. In India, gradually the graph of people infected with coronavirus has been soaring up, which makes it imperative to take into consideration about this disease as it may prove a deadly one. The intensity of this condition can be lowered only through timely diagnose and proper hygiene.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in Delhi advised caution on Coronavirus and has called for social distancing measures. Towards this, on March 24, 2020, the Government of India declared a lockdown in the country and requested the citizens to stay home to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In fact, the government shut the entire economy, suspending transports, schools and businesses to ensure that the billion residents of India stay safe. The unstoppable killer virus has so far affected hundreds of lives in India and lakhs of lives globally. The thousands of deaths worldwide due to coronavirus are heart-rending, and the number will for sure soar high.
Currently, no vaccine for the deadly virus has been formulated and prevention seems to be the best cure available for this disease so far.
The measures recommended to stop the spread of coronavirus includes- regular hand washing, frequent use of alcohol-based sanitizer, staying home when one feel sick, covering mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, following the travel advisory set out by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of India. Additionally, unnecessary visits to hospitals or doctors clinic should also be avoided to contain the advance of the deadly virus.
Similar measures have been taken by the authorities across the globe to prevent the spread of the fatal coronavirus. Many countries have also sealed their borders to all imposing strict travel on both internal and external movement. As of now, the virus has infected almost 80 countries. The first incident of the disease was reported last year in the Wuhan city of China. Since then, it started building up its roots in countries like South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Europe, United States of America (USA) and Iran. USA is currently topping the chart with vast majority of patients.
The need of the hour is to identify more cases of coronavirus from the length and breadth of the country through adequate number of tests. The economy of India and daily life is significantly getting affected because of the rapidly increasing virus. The virus has affected mostly the tourism and hospitality sector around the globe. While the final outcome of the virus is still unpredictable, it is visible that the economic impact on all the countries will be significant.
